Logitech Mouseman

The Logitech mouseman is a great little optical mouse. Actually, it is an umbrella name for a few different computer mice under the Logitech mouseman name. Mice have come far in the last several years. Many of us are probably old enough to remember when mice had tails and big fat tummies. When I see big fat tummies, I’m talking about the time when mice had the roller ball marble on their undersides. Quite a genius little device, and it worked very well, so long as the computer mouse didn’t eat too much lint. But they all did it seemed, and sure enough every week or less you’d have to take the ball out and pick out all the lint to get it working again.

The optical mouse got rid of that problem, and the wireless computer mouse got rid of the tail getting caught up underneath everything, especially the mouse.

The Logitech Cordless Mouseman Wheel PS/2 Serial Combo is one of the Logitech mouseman mice under that umbrella name. This mouse is great and versatile. It is both cordless and optical which offers the best of both worlds. It is also quite light at just under half a pound. Another great feature, that most of us probably won’t need is that it has a six foot range. Handy, but I don’t think I could read the type on my computer screen from 6 feet away.

The Logitech mouseman mentioned above is very easy to install and very quick too. One CD does it all for you. Also included are the batteries which is wonderful. Don’t you hate when all those battery operated toys come without batteries. I mean really, what’s the point. This mouse has a handy fourth button which you can set up to use however you want. I’ve heard of some folks using it as back or forward browser bar button and others using it to launch their web browsers. The options are pretty much limitless. The shape is great and comfortable, but only if you’re a rightie. I don’t know how a leftie would operate this mouse.

Doesn’t really matter I guess, as the mouse is sadly discontinued, but you can still pick them up used and second hand if you really need to have one. One other thing, the Logitech mouseman we’ve just been talking about is only available for use with a PC. Sorry Mac users. But hang on just a minute.

The newer and more stylish Logitech mouseman is now available for both PCs and Mac users. Logitech has also decided to offer them in a simple design suitable for left handed or right handed folks. They are compact little travelers that have even greater optical resolution at 800dpi and denounce the need for mouse pads. Making them the ideal companion to your notebook in coffee shops and hotel rooms.

As always they carry the Logitech stellar 5 year warranty and come with a PS/2 adapter if you have an older PC. Additionally, the Logitech mouseman also makes use of the WebWheel which allows for custom functionality if you so choose. You can see the Logitech mouseman by clicking here.

And if you want to do some more reading about other Logitech computer mice like the older generation Logitech RX300, the newer Logitech MX500 or his cousin the Logitech MX300 you can review what I’ve written here on my blog about those mice. Including the Logitech cordless optical mouse, a very popular choice.
